CROSSING THE LINES

Another home game means another visit by an Elite League rival and in this case, Nottingham Panthers are in town as part of their three-in-three weekend in Scotland.

So let’s have a look at three guys who have iced for both their Clan and the Panthers ahead of their meeting on Saturday:

BRUCE RICHARDSON (PANTHERS 08-10; CLAN 10-11)

Bruce will always hold a special place in the heart of Clan fans for what he did in the first ever season in 2010-11.

He arrived after two years at the Panthers, where he was a player-assistant coach to Corey Neilson, winning the Challenge Cup.

Richardson played for one more season, with the Clan and helped them into fifth place in the first ever season, picking up 71 points from 64 appearances in total.

Nowadays, he coaches Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL over in Canada and the club still retains a special place in his heart.

JADE GALBRAITH (PANTHERS 08-11; CLAN 11-13)

Jade is still a favourite of many who have followed the club for many years and for a time, was considered to be one the main attacking threats in the Elite League.

After two Challenge Cups and a play-off win with the Panthers under Corey Neilson, Jade came to Scotland and picked up over 100 points in his first year as well as winning the Elite League’s Player of the Year.

His second season was injury hit and didn’t quite have the same impact as he left in 2013 for a spell in the Netherlands.

A move to Dundee Stars in 2014 didn’t materialise due to visa issues and he retired a year later. Nowadays he helps runs a cleaning company back in his native Canada.

JACOB DOTY (CLAN 17-18; PANTHERS 18)

Someone a bit more recent has donned the colours of both teams and it’s nothing other than Jacob Doty.

He was part of John Tripp’s team last season in what turned out to be a difficult campaign, although Doty made 62 appearances, scoring 19 goals and assisting in 20 goals.

A summer switch to Nottingham Panthers under now former coach Rich Chernomaz looked to be a good one, but he was let go in November with just three points from 23 games.

He’s back in North America now with ECHL side Allen Americans for the rest of the season and has already racked up 76 penalty minutes in 26 appearances at the time of writing.
