Glasgow Clan welcome in the New Year at Braehead Arena this Saturday night when they take on the Dundee Stars. The Clan have been in fine form recently and will hope to continue that against our Gardiner conference rivals.

Our Match Night Live Reporter, David Marshall (@marshalldave38), takes a look at some of the danger men for the Stars.

#1 Francois Bouchard – F

The top points and joint top goal scorer for the Dundee Stars with 12 goals and 17 assists. Bouchard has adapted well to life in the Elite League and it’s no wonder when you consider the pedigree and experience he brought to Dundee.

In the 2006 NHL Draft he was selected 35th overall by the Washington Capitals which led to him winning two Calder Cups in the AHL with the Hershey Bears. Bouchard was also on the books of the New York Rangers but would never play in the NHL.

After leaving North America, he would play across Europe in Sweden, Italy, Austria and France before finding his new home with the Stars.

Bouchard has already made an impact against the Clan, when the teams met in the Challenge Cup in October, Bouchard scored twice and received the Star’s man of the match in the Clan’s shootout win.

#2 Matt Marquardt – LW

An impressive pick up by the Stars from the summer. Marquardt is playing his third season in the Elite League after spells at the Coventry Blaze and Sheffield Steelers where he racked up 35 and 40 points respectively.

Another alumni from the 2006 NHL Draft. Marquardt was a seventh round pick for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After bouncing around the AHL and ECHL, the 30-year-old from Ontario had a short spell in the DEL2 before settling into life in the Elite League.

Marquardt was on hand for the Stars to score the winning goal when the two sides met for the first time this season in September, the Stars ran out 2-1 winners.

#3 Drydn Dow – D

One of the main men at the back for the Stars, Drydn Dow is playing his first professional season and comes to Dundee with a great reputation from the Canadian USports league.

The 26-year-old from Calgary is a dangerous two-way defenseman with the ability to cause teams problems at both ends of the ice. So far this season, Dow has amassed 20 points (four goals and 16 assists) and has a +/- of -4.
