GAME DAY: Who are the danger men ahead of the match against MK Lightning?

November 17, 2018

DID YOU KNOW?: MK Lightning have the worst goal difference in the league this season, with 39 goals scored and 65 goals conceded (-26)

TONIGHT will see the Glasgow Clan in action in the second of two home games this weekend at the Braehead Arena.

The Milton Keynes Lightning will be the visitors on Saturday night and Pete Russell’s men will be looking for revenge after a disappointing display in Milton Keynes on Wednesday night. Our Match Night Live Reporter, David Marshall (@marshalldave38), takes a look at some of the key men for the Lightning.

#1 Tim Wallace – F

Well this one doesn’t need much explaining. The man who fired three goals past Joel Rumpel on Wednesday night, he is an obvious and apparent danger.

Wallace goes into the weekend’s games with 18 points (seven goals and 11 assists). The 34-year-old American played 101 games in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Wallace was a new acquisition for the Lightning this summer after spending 2017/18 at the Sheffield Steelers where he racked up 30 points (six goals and 24 assists).

#2 Eric Neiley – F

The man who, perhaps even more than the aforementioned Wallace, makes the Lightning tick. Neiley makes plays happen and ensures that the puck gets in front of the net.

He was in productive form on Wednesday night, picking up one goal and one assist in the Lightning’s big win.

Neiley was another new signing for the Lighting. He joined the league in the second half of last season in the colours of the Sheffield Steelers. In 25 games, the 26-year-old American got 21 points (10 goals and 11 assists).

So far this season, Neiley has 14 points (nine goals and five assists).

#3 Robbie Baillargeon – F

Clan fans will be all too aware of the threat that Baillargeon can pose after Wednesday. The Boston and Arizona state university Alumni has struggled for consistency since leaving the NCAA in the 2016/17 season, having played for 3 teams in the ECHL (South Carolina Stingrays, Orlando Solar Bears & Tulsa Oilers) with 0.43 PPG record in the ECHL – all coming from assists. He seems to have found his scoring touch at MKL having hit 5 goals in 7 matches for the team sitting bottom of the league.
