GAME DAY: Hammond set for fun Flyers game

February 17, 2017

NEXT HOME GAME: The Gardiner Conference title is getting nearer, can we extend our lead at the top even more THIS FRIDAY when the Fife Flyers are visitors to Braehead Arena (7:30pm face-off). Tickets are on sale NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.

Glasgow’s Braehead Clan forward Mike Hammond says he’s looking forward to a ‘fun’ game when Fife Flyers come to Glasgow in the latest chapter of the rivalry.

Flyers head to Braehead without a win in their last seven meetings and without a win in all league meetings between them all season.

Hammond, who was named Elite League Player of the Week this week, says it’s a fixture he’s never come across before.

“The run of home games have been good and it’s always a good rivalry with Fife Flyers,” Hammond said. “We’re still looking to clinch our division and Friday is a big game for us.

“All games are big certainly, but the Fife ones are always entertaining. It’s a rivalry I’ve never seen before and they’re fun games to show up to.

“The fans make it loud and at home, it’s a big difference maker when you have the Purple Army behind you. Even their fans get involved and it’s always a good occasion.

“Clinching the Conference is our main goal right now. Getting the win would take us a step closer and it’s the only game for us to focus on this weekend.

“Hopefully we can continue our good record against them.”
