GUILDFORD FLAMES 2 GLASGOW CLAN 1 (AFTER OVERTIME)

Glasgow Clan ended the weekend with three points out of four, but ended up on the losing side in the second of two clashes against Guildford Flames.

Fresh from their 5-3 victory on Saturday at home, Clan made the 420-mile journey to Surrey for the rematch in the only arena they’ve never won in.

There was real hope this could be the night as Glasgow went in front after five and a half minutes to give them the lead.

Rasmus Bjerrum’s pass found its way to Guillaume Doucet, who applied the finish past Flames goalie Chris Carrozzi for his third goal of the weekend.

Flames couldn’t quite find their feet in the first, but had better success in the second as they created more chances on Joel Rumpel, but couldn’t make the breakthrough.

Clan couldn’t open a bigger gap either as the game moved into the third period with that solitary goal the one making all the difference.

With just six minutes to go, the complexion of the game changed when Flames got the equaliser that proved to be a turning point.

Kevin King played the puck to Jordan Abt, who delivered a wrist shot from the blue line that left Rumpel beaten and Guildford found themselves on the hunt for the two points.

The game moved into overtime and just briefly, it looked as though Glasgow would get the monkey off their back when they scored.

Goal line technology ruled it out and the game remained very much in the balance until the home side prevailed.

Jesse Craige and Ian Watters burst forward to leave Clan exposed, with Watters getting the finish and clinching a big two points for the Flames in their own barn, keeping their record of wins over Glasgow at home intact.

Tickets for Dundee on the 15th are available online HERE, by calling the tickets hotline on 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office (Thursday 12 noon to 9pm, Friday 12 noon to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm).
