GLASGOW CLAN MATCH REPORT: MILTON KEYNES LIGHTNING 0 GLASGOW CLAN 2

Glasgow Clan moved to within a point of Fife Flyers in fourth place as they took both points in a 2-0 victory over Milton Keynes Lightning.

The game marked the 500th appearance of Matt Haywood in all Elite League competitions for the club and also the first shutout for netminder Joel Rumpel as Pete Russell savoured victory against his old club.

It took the Clan only a couple of minutes to get on the scoresheet as Craig Peacock finished from Rasmus Bjerrum and the visitors were on the right road.

MK couldn’t find a way through, despite Clan taking a couple of penalties as Peacock and Pitt sat, but Glasgow held on to the lead by the end of the first.

Robbie Baillargeon hit the bar for Lightning early in the second as the home side threatened to cancel the early goal.

But again, Clan’s goal remained unblemished as MK looked to end a run of six straight losses, but were getting nowhere fast.

Rumpel again breathed a sigh of relief early in the third as Tim Wallace smashed his effort off the post.

But Clan killed Lightning off with four minutes to go as Zack Fitzgerald finished one off from Scott Pitt’s assist to confirm another two points in the race for the top four.
