GLASGOW CLAN 1 DUNDEE STARS 5

Former Clan hero Stefan Meyer received the adulation of the crowd as he was inaugurated on to the club’s Wall of Fame, but it couldn’t inspire a result to match.

It was something of an off night for Pete Russell’s team as Dundee Stars recorded a much-needed win from their point of view, taking a 5-1 result and two big points.

Clan suffered a nightmare first period when they found themselves three down to the play-off chasing Stars, a team with one win at Braehead Arena in two years.

After home goalie Joel Rumpel made a big save to deny Brian Hart, Dundee weren’t put off as they moved the puck around quickly, finding Lukas Lundvald who deliver the killer first.

The Stars moved up a gear and found their rhythm, adding a second a few minutes later when Matt Marquardt’s shot from the right side face off circle landed in the net behind Rumpel.

Omar Pacha’s side got the third before the first break when Charles Corcoran’s backhand pass caused chaos in and around the Clan crease, for Matt Bissonnette to tap in.

The home side needed something to get themselves back into the game, but the Stars had other ideas when they went four up without reply seven minutes into the middle period.

An attempted effort from Zack Fitzgerald bounced away from him, allowing Dundee to take advantage as two players found themselves through on Rumpel, with Lundvald adding his second of the night.

Glasgow got one back a few minutes later as Gerard Hanson’s pass was deflected by visiting goalie Pontus Sjögren into the path of Brendan Connolly, who tucked it away.

Lundvald completed his hat-trick in the third to complete the victory and end a disappointing night for the Clan.
