The Glasgow Clan couldn’t make it three victories in a row as Guildford Flames dealt them a blow with a 2-0 shutout win at the Spectrum.

After success in trips to Manchester Storm and Nottingham Panthers, Pete Russell’s men couldn’t follow it up on a frustrating night that saw Paul Dixon’s men come out on top.

Flames could have picked up an early powerplay goal, but video review deemed it not allowable, but it was a warning for what was to come.

Scott Tanski sat for a late hit, which meant another man advantage for the home side and on this occasion, they took their chance.

Jesse Craige and Calle Ackered combined with the latter blasting one in from the blue line to give the Flames a first period lead.

Craige went from provider to finisher with the second goal after 27 minutes when he dragged the puck to the middle and sent it home.

Clan had their chances to at least get one on the board, but it wasn’t to be as former Clan goalie Travis Fullerton was in imperious form, making 43 saves.

A five-on-three powerplay early in the third for Glasgow didn’t quite have the outcome Russell was hoping for either as the night got more frustrating.

In the end, it wasn’t to be and although Saturday’s win at Nottingham Panthers was still fresh in the memory, it was a night where Clan just couldn’t get the breaks.
