GLASGOW CLAN MATCH REPORT: GLASGOW CLAN 9 DUNDEE STARS 2

Glasgow Clan made it three wins in a row as they romped to a 9-2 victory over Dundee Stars.

It was a memorable night in particular for Matt Haywood, who made his 500th appearance in all Elite League competitions as his team really put Dundee to the sword.

Plus it was the first time Clan had scored nine past any team since a 9-4 victory over Hull Stingrays back in March 2015.

As first periods go, it was probably the best one the fans had seen for quite some time as the home side surged into a comfortable six-goal lead.

A Matt Stanisz blue line shot got a touch from Gerard Hanson to take it beyond Dundee goalie Pontus Sjögren to open the scoring.

Then an error from the Stars saw Vaclav Stupka rob the puck, skate through the centre and deliver a low finish after dragging to his right.

Another breakaway saw Craig Peacock square it for Brendan Connolly, who duly delivered the third, with goal line technology taking away any doubt.

Jack Musil got his second goal of the season with a finish from close range as Stars’ night got progressively worse.

While Omar Pacha’s side were pleased to see a Scott Pitt finish ruled out by the goal line tech on the powerplay, Matt Beca delivered a finish shortly after that was beyond any doubt.

Stanisz finally got on the board late on in the session with the sixth goal to the delight of the home fans. And that was only the first period.

Scott Tanski took a pass from Mac Howlett to make it 7-0 early in the second as the scoreline expanded a little more.

But Dundee hit back through Mike Sullivan then Brian Hart, who beat Gary Russell shortly after Clan’s backup came on to replace Joel Rumpel.

However Connolly’s finish with a second to go ended the middle period with the home side still six goals to the good at 8-2.

Clan added one more marker in the third as Beca got his second to seal a terrific night’s work for Pete Russell and his team.
