GLASGOW CLAN MATCH REPORT: GLASGOW CLAN 4 NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS 1

An issue with a section of ice nearly ended the game prematurely, but Glasgow Clan took the points in a 4-1 win over Nottingham Panthers.

A lengthy delay to the third period left the contest hanging in the balance as some ice in one of the creases caused some concern.

But the officials and arena staff made sure the game continued and for the home fans, who had to be patient, were given their reward.

Luke Pither had a chance where the puck broke to him in the centre, but Clan goalie Joel Rumpel was in the right position to make the stop.

However, Panthers got themselves in front when Alex Guptill set up Jon Rheault, who came in from the right and flicked the puck over Rumpel and into the net.

It took three minutes of the second period for the home side to draw level when Travis Ehrhardt lined up a powerful drive from the blue line.

Panthers goalie Patrick Munson could do no more than slap the away, where it landed for Scott Pitt to tuck away.

Ten minutes later, Clan were ahead as they burst forward, with Brendan Connolly on the puck down the right as he made entry into the opposition zone.

He spotted Guillaume Doucet arriving slightly late and the former Panthers man lasered his effort into the net to put Glasgow ahead.

Rumpel was on great form to deny Mark Hurtubise with a chance that looked destined for goal, with the Clan goalie spreading himself across the face of goal and make the stop.

The start to the third period was delayed because of the issue with the ice, but when play restarted, the final session was split into two at ten minutes each way.

Clan took advantage almost from the off with a powerplay as Guillaume Doucet fed the puck into the centre and it ended up behind Munson to increased the home side’s lead to 3-1.

Brendan Connolly finished things off when Scott Pitt’s pass from the right found the forward lurking in the centre to deliver the killer blow and confirm the points.
