NEWS: Boyd excited by Caps return love-in

September 18, 2016

NEXT HOME GAME: Braehead Clan are back in action THIS WEDNESDAY against the Edinburgh Capitals (7:30pm face-off). Tickets are available NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.

Braehead Clan forward Callum Boyd isn’t bothered by any chirping he may get from Edinburgh Capitals’ fans – because he knows they still love him.

The 22 year old will make his first return to Murrayfield since leaving the Capitals to join Braehead in the summer, following two years at the club.

And he’s excited to be going back where he’ll reacquaint himself with the ice pad he knows well and loves to play on.

“I hope the Caps fans give me a nice warm welcome when I got back, but who knows?,” said the young Scot.

“I’m expecting some fun and games at least and if they’re chirping me, I know they’ll just be joking, trying to get in my head for the game. I know they still love me. Hopefully.

“It’ll be strange as this is the fourth team I’ve only ever played, then going back to a former team is not something I’m use to.

“It’s not going to affect the way I play. I’m at Braehead Clan now so it’ll just be good to get back in that rink and just get playing there again.

“I love the pad there. It’s such a good place to play and it’ll be good to get back in those spaces and get into it.”

And while he admits he hasn’t followed his old team closely, he reckons Caps head coach Michal Dobron is building a solid team.

While he admits he doesn’t know what to expect, Boyd talked up the players that are now his team-mates at the Clan.

He added: “I’ve not followed it too much, but the guys they’ve brought in seem to be good solid players so, from what I’m hearing, Michal seems to be putting together a tough team.

“I still speak to Tyler Plews and Sean Beattie there and it looks as though they’re going to be putting up a fight this season, which will be good.

“We don’t know what sort of team Edinburgh have, especially this season, where they have some good players there.

“I’m liking the look of our team though. They’re a good bunch of guys and they know their stuff. I’ve definitely got good hopes for us this season.”
