The Glasgow Clan are pleased to confirm that there will be an exciting new format to this season’s Wall of Fame induction.

Rather than selecting a player from the previous season, in this case the 2017/18 season, the criteria has been revised to allow any player from any of our previous season to be selected.

Also proceeding forward, rather the club choosing one inductee, the Purple Army will have an opportunity to vote for their inductee from three worthy choices.

We are delighted to confirm that the three choices this season will be:

Chris Frank (for the 2014/15 season) – the American defenceman spent two season’s with the Clan from 2013 to 2015 and during that time became a firm fan favourite. During Chris’ final season with the club, we achieved an EIHL runners-up spot, the Gardiner Conference title + Champions League qualification.

Stefan Meyer (for the 2015/16 season) – the Canadian power forward joined the Clan in 2014 from the Sheffield Steelers and went on to have a career season with 66 points in 51 games. Like Chris Frank, Meyer helped the Clan to 2nd place in the EIHL, the Gardiner Conference title + Champions League qualification.

Ash Goldie (for the 2012/13 season) – the Canadian center joined the Clan from Las Vegas in 2012 and started his EIHL career in explosive fashion with 81 points in 54 games. The Clan captain for two consecutive season’s, the 37-year-old is still highly respected by the club and the Purple Army.

The Purple Postbox + voting forms will be available in the Braehead Arena foyer from our home game against Sheffield on Sunday 23rd December, with voting closing following our game against Nottingham on Saturday 19th January.

Clan Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers explained the decision behind the change plus the decision to select Frank, Meyer and Goldie: “After reviewing the possibilities for this season’s addition to the Clan Wall of Fame, it became very apparent that we needed a revamp of the criteria. I’ve also believed for a while that’s it’s important that the Purple Army have a choice on who is inducted onto the Wall.

“We looked at various candidates from our first eight season’s and selected Chris Frank, Stefan Meyer and Ash Goldie. All three are highly respected here at the Clan, Chris and Stefan were members of the team that ultimately missed out on the EIHL title by one point, won a Gardiner Conference title and qualified for the Champions Hockey League.

“Ash was captain for two years here at The Clan, had an outstanding first season finishing 4th in EIHL scoring and went on to lead the Clan to our first ever appearance at the Final Four weekend in Nottingham.”
