NEXT HOME GAME: Can we stop the Belfast Giants surge to the top of the EIHL table? Find out on Saturday 4th February when they visit Braehead Arena (7:00pm face-off). Tickets are available NOW via TICKETMASTER, by calling 0844 499 1700 or direct at the Braehead Arena box office.
Braehead Clan forward Matt Beca says the home fans can provide the energy when Fife Flyers return to Glasgow on Saturday on Gardiner Conference business.
Despite Flyers being the form team in the league, having taken 17 points from a possible 20, they are without a win in their last six meetings with Ryan Finnerty’s side.
And Beca reckons the games with their Kirkcaldy rivals are akin to a play-off atmosphere as Braehead Arena stands on the verge of another sell out.
“I don’t know why we’ve had the mark over them,” Beca said. “We’ve played them at times where we really need to get the win and guys buckle down and focus.
“It’s maybe just one of those things where we have a mental edge on them. Those things happen and we hope to continue it this week.
“In whatever building, fans from both sides make it loud and the intensity is there and as a player, those are the most fun games to play in.
“You can feel the atmosphere in the build-up and everyone’s excited for those games. It has a play-off type feel as well.
“It was a sell out the last time we played them just before Christmas and the fans giving us the extra energy is huge for us.
“Their fans bring plenty of noise as well and it’s important to keep your composure and feed off the energy of the crowd.”
