NEWS: Fritsch & McIver confirm retirements

July 18, 2016

The intu Braehead Clan would like to wish Jamie Fritsch and Nathan McIver all the best in their futures, with the duo confirming their retirements.

Fritsch, 31, joined the Clan from Italian team Milano Rossoblu back in 2014 and went on to become a firm fan favourite. He has now decided to pursue a job opportunity back home.

McIver, also 31, only spent one season in Glasgow after joining from the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. He has accepted an exciting opportunity to become an assistant coach with the OHL’s Oshawa Generals.

Clan Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers commented: “We’d like to wish Jamie, Nathan and their families all the very best heading into the future and thank them for their time with the Braehead Clan.

“We had shown interest in bringing back both for next season, but as the weeks progressed it become clear they wanted to pursue these options.

“We have since highlighted alternative targets and will be finalising deals very soon.”
