A debut goal from new signing Stefan Della Rovere was the highlight of the night as Braehead Clan moved into the top half of the Elite League with a 4-1 win over Manchester Storm.

The win means Clan moved above Fife Flyers in the overall standings as they look ahead to this weekend’s home double header with Edinburgh Capitals and Coventry Blaze coming up.

Clan got the lead after seven minutes when Harry Quast played in Mike Hammond, who showed good stick work to squeeze his shot past Storm goalie Mike Clemente.

Della Rovere showed encouraging signs win the first when he nicked the puck from Matt Bissonnette and played a long pass for Daniel Åhsberg, but he was denied by Clemente.

The home side doubled the lead on a breakaway when Alex Leavitt squared for Craig Peacock, who fired his shot home and Clan were 2-0 up.

Della Rovere got his Braehead career off to the best possible start when he got the final touch on an effort that found its way past Clemente.

But the visitors pulled one back as Darian Dzuirzynski found himself through on Michal Zajkowski and buried the finish.

Hammond completed the job for the Clan in the third as he tapped in after another good pass from Quast caused chaos around the Storm crease, clinching the points.
