Glasgow’s Braehead Clan made it three wins in a row to take victory at Murrayfield against Edinburgh Capitals, but needed penalty shots to complete the job.

Attention can now turn to next week’s play-off double header with Dundee Stars, however Clan had to overcome a tricky test in Edinburgh first.

It was the Caps who struck first blood through Ian Schultz as they looked for a reaction from Saturday’s 8-5 loss in Glasgow.

Matt Beca was on target to equalise as both sides ended the first period on level terms in a closely fought encounter.

There was very little to choose between them as the game went on during the second period, but Matt Tipoff was the man to make a difference late on the middle session.

Beca added his and Braehead’s second early in the third period with Jay Rosehill putting the Clan in front shortly after to keep their noses in front.

But an equaliser from Mason Wilgosh tied the game at three, taking the game into overtime, where both sides couldn’t be separated and it needed penalty shots to find a winner.

Beca was the man to step up and he dispatched two of them to take the points to pull the curtain on the 2016/17 regular season.
