The 44-year-old Scot, returns for a second season having joined from the Milton Keynes Lightning last summer.

Since 2015, Russell has also been head coach of the Great Britain National Team, winning back to back Gold Medals and promotion to the top level of the IIHF World Championships for the first time since 1994.

Pete Russell commented: “I’m very privileged and honoured to be here again next season as head coach and I’ll give my all to continue to make the Purple Army proud of their club.

“Together, this season we became stronger and I’m looking forward to working with the returning players, new players, staff and of course our superb fans to continue making the right steps forward.”

Clan Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers commented: “I am delighted to be able to confirm that Pete will be back for a second season with the club.

“It was my number one priority to retain him, as following the season we’ve had there have been a lot of suitors in the UK and in Europe.

“Work is already well underway for the 2019/20 season and Pete has already started the process of retaining a core of this season’s team and recruiting his main targets.”
