Glasgow’s Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian defenceman Matt Stanisz for the 2018/19 season.

The 28-year-old from Burlington, Ontario, becomes the third player to leave EIHL rivals the Manchester Storm to join the Clan.

Before coming to the UK last summer, Stanisz spent two years in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, Indy Fuel and Elmira Jackals.

“I am delighted to add defenceman Matt Stanisz to the Clan roster for the season ahead” confirmed Clan head coach Pete Russell.

“Matt is a player I have been tracking from the minute I got the Clan job. Every time I saw him last season, he really impressed me.

“He has good size, moves really well, takes up good ice position, has great vision and has a good offensive upside. I know Matt will continue his solid play and his offensive production with the Clan.

“Matt has had a great career so far and I believe there is plenty more to come from him. Matt is going to be a big player for us and a leader on my team.”

Stanisz becomes the ninth player to join the Clan for 2018/19 following the signings of Zack Fitzgerald, Scott Pitt, Michal Gutwald, Gerard Hanson, Jack Musil, Craig Peacock, Matt Haywood, and Zach Sullivan.
